Destiny is a journey made of a series of stops, rather than a single destination.

Sigh. 35 years and counting, I’m still letting this understanding reshape the way I think about and approach life.
In my immaturity years ago, I would encounter hardships and think to myself, “if I could just get through this hurdle things will be better.” How daft?! But not really. We live and I’d like to add, hopefully, we learn.
It takes experiencing life and its intermittent lows to realize that lows are a very normal part of life and that life is not about jumping over the hurdles that come to never have to jump over another.
It’s about finding the grace and strength to move through those lows and learning to jump over hurdles and accepting that this is part of the journey. Life will never be devoid of challenges.
We do not come to smooth terrain only to remain there and live out the rest of our days. We rest and we keep going. We enjoy the sweet spots and hopefully we relish in them and savor them as much as we can. We come to lows or hurdles and we deal, hopefully, as best we can and we live through it. We keep going.
If we commit ourselves to thinking that destiny is ultimately utopia, we fool only ourselves and make life a little more difficult to manage when it inevitably gets hard.
Accept that with living, comes great hardship and great joy. Move through it with as much as grace as possible and if not, kick and scream. I won’t judge. Try to enjoy the journey while you’re at it. There are no do-overs.
